Course SummaryAutomotive Oscilloscope Essentials is a focused one-day training course designed for automotive technicians and diagnostics professionals aiming to elevate their understanding of electrical systems through oscilloscope use.
It is part one of a three part programme in oscilloscope use, and will allow participants to progress onto waveform analysis. Delegates will gain hands-on experience in setting up oscilloscopes for standard voltage measurements, selecting and deploying probes and accessories, and capturing high-fidelity waveforms. Techniques such as waveform triggering, using rulers and cursors for precise measurements, and employing flight recording and zoom features will be thoroughly covered to enhance diagnostic accuracy. Whether working on ignition systems, sensor signals, or electronic control modules, participants will develop the skills necessary to capture waveforms which help to diagnose issues effectively. This practical approach ensures that technicians leave equipped to leverage oscilloscopes as a strategic diagnostic tool, bridging the gap between theory and real-world application. Ideal for experienced technicians, apprentices, and automotive electronic specialists seeking to deepen their diagnostic toolkit, Automotive Oscilloscope Essentials provides the essential skills to elevate your troubleshooting capabilities. On completion, you will receive a certificate of attendance which can be used towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits.

RequirementsThere are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you should currently be working in the automotive industry as a vehicle technician or similar. The attendance of the Automotive Electrical Testing and Diagnosis course prior to undertaking this training will reinforce concepts used in oscilloscope operation.
This course is recommended for progression onto the waveform analysis training. This course is a mixture of theory and practical and will require suitable clothing for conducting workshop activities. Safety boots are required for all technical work shop based activities. You will be unable to participate in the course if you do not wear the appropriate PPE. We reserve the right to exclude a candidate who we suspect is under the influence of alcohol or drugs (the candidate may also need to make alternative arrangements for onward journeys). |
