Course Summary

As the final stage in the three part Automotive Oscilloscope programme, this advanced course integrates all previous knowledge and expands waveform analysis, Picoscope diagnostics, pressure transducer applications, and in-vehicle network decoding to enhance fault detection and troubleshooting accuracy.
Delegates will refine their waveform interpretation skills, reviewing key waveform types and their diagnostic applications. They will explore Picoscope diagnostic techniques, including battery testing, compression analysis, and cylinder balance assessments.
This course also covers pressure transducer applications, enabling technicians to assess intake pulse, exhaust pulse, and in-cylinder pressure variations for engine performance diagnostics.
Participants will customise oscilloscope user settings, including grid layouts, view properties, measurements, and probe configurations, ensuring streamlined workflow adjustments for individual diagnostic requirements.
Advanced oscilloscope functions, such as maths channels for direct calculations, waveform reference storage, mask creation, and alarm setups, will be examined to maximise oscilloscope capability.
Finally, technicians will delve into CAN Bus analysis and serial decoding, equipping them to interpret network communication faults and optimise electronic system troubleshooting.
With a strong emphasis on practical application, this course ensures participants leave equipped to harness advanced oscilloscope techniques, reinforcing their ability to diagnose modern automotive systems effectively.
Ideal for experienced technicians, and apprentices, who have completed the previous two courses and are seeking to master cutting-edge oscilloscope diagnostics, Advanced Automotive Oscilloscopes provides the final step in achieving oscilloscope proficiency.
On completion, you will receive a certificate of attendance which can be used towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits.

Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you should currently be working in the automotive industry as a vehicle technician or similar. The attendance of the Automotive Oscilloscope Essentials and Automotive Waveform Analysis courses prior to undertaking this training will reinforce concepts used in oscilloscope operation.

This course is recommended for progression onto further diagnostic training.

This course is a mixture of theory and practical and will require suitable clothing for conducting workshop activities. Safety boots are required for all technical work shop based activities. You will be unable to participate in the course if you do not wear the appropriate PPE.

We reserve the right to exclude a candidate who we suspect is under the influence of alcohol or drugs (the candidate may also need to make alternative arrangements for onward journeys).
